COR CC15310 1/50 Scania 111, 40ft Curtainside Trailer, David Munro and Sons Ltd, Scotland
David Munro started in approximately 1939 with a coal and local carrier service. In 1952 he started local deliveries to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Then in the late 1950s he started long distance trips from Scotland to England delivering paper for Tullis Russell Papermakers in Markinch. In the early 1970s he opened a depot in London to operate a Freightline service.
The company then traded as David Munro Sons Ltd and early in the 1980s they opened a depot in Manchester. The company ran Leyland and Scammel trucks in the 1960s. In the 1970s they ran mainly Scania and MAN trucks with Volvos and Bedfords working out of these depots. About one third of the fleet were painted in Tullis Russell livery. The company stopped trading in 1993.
This particular model is dedicated to Alistair McBain who sadly died from a heart attack while on route to the London depot.
